The semantic field of the word “intellect” in Quran

در تاريخ تفكر، فلسفه و اديان، «عقل» موضوع بحث هاي زيادي بوده است. در قرآن كريم واژه «عقل» بسيار به ­كار رفته و از آن سخن گفته شده است. بنابراين يكي از سوال مهم آن است كه «عقل» در جهان­ بيني قرآني، چه معنايي دارد؟ حوزه معنايي عقل، در قرآن، شامل چه مولفه هايي است و چه رابطه اي بين عقل و ساير مولفه ها وجود دارد؟ عقل در قرآن همراه با مفاهيم نزديك به آن، حوزه معنايي خاصي تشكيل داده كه بخشي از جهان بيني قرآني را به نمايش مي گذارد. در اين جهان­ بيني برخلاف رويكرد اكثر فلاسفه، عقل به معناي موجودي مستقل وجود ندارد و اين حوزه معنايي، شامل مولفه هايي چون آيه، تفكر، تذكر، تفقه، هدايت، ايمان و... است. بين اين مفاهيم و عقل، رابطه همنشيني و جانشيني ويژه­اي برقرار است؛ از جمله آنكه مهم­ترين ارتباط، ميان عقل و ايمان برقرار شده است. اين نوشتار مي كوشد چگونگي كاربرد عقل در قرآن و نيز مولفه هاي حوزه معنايي آن در جهان بيني قرآني را بر اساس اصول زبان شناسي استخراج نمايد.

The “intellect” has been the subject of many discussions in the history of thought, philosophy and religions. The word “intellect” has used numerous times in the Holy Quran and has been mentioned in different parts. Therefore it’s a question that what is the meaning of intellect in the Quranic world-view? What are the elements of intellect in its semantic field, in Holy Quran? What relation does exist between intellect and other elements of its semantic field? The intellect, in the Holy Quran, has formed a special semantic field with other close concepts which represents a part of Quranic worldview. In this worldview, the intellect, contrary to view of the most philosophers, has not independent existence. Its semantic field includes several elements such as sign, thought, remembrance, gain in-depth knowledge (Tafaqqoh), guidance, and faith. There is a firm paradigmatic and collocation relation between intellect and other element of this semantic field. For example, the most important relation between “intellect” and “Iman” has been established. This essay attempts to extract the quality of intellect’s function in Holy Quran and also the elements of its semantic field in Quranic worldview based on linguistics principles.
