Application of semi-purified Phytotoxins of Fusarium Graminearum for evaluation of head blight resistance in wheat cultivars

Isolates of the species Fusarium graminearum were cultured on autoclaved barley seed and tesed from the stand point of the toxicity to wheat germinating seeds. Out of the isolates studied, only two isolates 164 and 131 were of considerable toxicity. The correlation between the isolates toxicity and virulence was studied. Twenty six spring lines of bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) were studied from the view point growing coleoptile segments, and aslo greminating seeds tolerance using the causal fungus semi-purified phytotoxins, and correlation between their tolerance phytotoxic and resistance was calculated. Also, coleopetile segments were considerably found more sensitive than rootlets from wheat seeds.
