بررسي و مقايسه خودارجاعي و گسترش‌پذيري نامتعين، در نسبت با پارادوكس‌ها

A Comparison between self-Reference and Indefinite Extensibility in Relation to Paradoxes

اين نوشتار درباره‌ى تشخيص پارادوكس‌هاي منطقي است. يعني قرار است پارادوكس‌ها از جنبه‌ى تشخيصي يا عيب­يابانه مورد مطالعه قرار گيرند. در اين نوع مطالعات پرسش اصلي اين است كه پارادوكس‌ها چگونه وارد استدلال مي­شوند و چگونه مي­توان آنها را به درستي تشخيص داد؟ تمركز مقاله روي پيشنهادهاي عيب­ يابانه ساختار محور بوده و دو دسته اصلي از اين پيشنهادها بررسي شده ­اند. دسته اول پيشنهادهايي است كه حول محور مفاهيمي چون دور و غير حملي بودن شكل گرفته­ اند و تحت عنوان «خود ارجاعي» به آن پرداخته ­ايم و دسته دوم پيشنهادهايي است كه حول محور فرض بي­نهايت واقعي و يا نوعي نامحدود بودن و گسترش‌پذيري ذاتي شكل گرفته ­اند و تحت عنوان گسترش­ پذيري نامتعين به آنها پرداخته ­ايم. البته دسته اخير با خوانش‌هاي متفاوتي مطرح شده است كه مراد ما در اينجا خوانشي متعلق به رايت و شاپيرو است. ­در هر دو مورد ابتدا پيشنهاد و بستر مفهومي آن بررسي شده و سپس ارتباط آن با پارادوكس­ها و نحوه استنتاج پارادوكس از آن تبيين شده است. در نهايت هم با اين انگيزه كه هر دو پيشنهاد قابليت تبيين پارادوكس‌هاي مشتركي را دارند، استدلالي طراحي شده كه نشان مي­دهد هر دو پيشنهاد در واقع به نوعي همسان هستند، و با يك نگاشت صوري- معنايي مي­توان هر يك را بر ديگري تطبيق داد.

This article is about the diagnosis of logical paradoxes. That means we are going to examine paradoxes based on the diagnostic aspect. In these type of studies, the main question is that how the paradoxes enter into the inference, and how can they be detected properly. The article concentrates on the structural diagnostic proposals, and studies two kinds of them. First, those which are formed around notions like circularity and impredicativity, which we have studied under the title of “self-reference”. Second, those proposals that are formed based on the assumption of the actual infinite or some kind of indefiniteness and essential extensibility. These are studied under the title of “indefinite extensibility”. The latter group is presented in different versions and here we consider that of Wright and Shapiro. In both cases, the proposal and its conceptual context are surveyed initially. Then, its relation with the paradoxes and the way of inferring the paradoxes from them are explained. Finally, the fact that both proposals can explain common paradoxes leads us to offer an argument which shows that they are somehow identical, and, using a formal semantic mapping, we can adapt each one to the other
