آموزش ادبيات انگليسي يا ادبيات جهان به انگليسي در دانشگاه‌هاي ايران؟

The Pathology of Teaching English Literature in Iran

هدف اين نوشتار اثبات علمي ضرورت آموزش ادبيات جهان به زبان انگليسي در دانشگاه‌هاي ايران است. در دنياي امروزجا دارد به ادبيات ساير ملل نيز پرداخته شود. اين مقاله سه بحث بنيادين را بررسي مي‌كند. بخش اول به تبيين نقش ادبيات در حفظ هويت ملّي مي‌پردارد. بخش دوم تحليل انتقادي اهداف آموزش ادبيات انگليسي در دانشگاه‌هاي غيرغربي من‌جمله ايران است. در اين بخش با استناد به آراي نظريه‌پردازان پسااستعماري نشان مي‌دهيم كه چگونه استعمار فرهنگي ادبيات غرب را در مركز قرار مي‌دهد و ادبيات ساير كشورها را به حاشيه مي‌راند. در بخش پاياني، شاكله نظري آموزش ادبيات جهان به زبان انگليسي به مثابه نظريه و رويكردي جديد در آموزش ادبيات را توضيح مي‌دهيم تا، بدين‌سان، هم ادب و فرهنگ خود را به ديگران بهتر بشناسانيم و هم به شناختي عميق‌تر و انتقادي‌تر از ادبيات ساير ملل دست يابيم. نتيجه بحث اينكه ادبيات جهان امروز يكي از شاخه‌هاي رو به ‌رشد رشته ادبيات تطبيقي در دانشگاه‌هاي معتبر جهان است و جا دارد ما هم در برنامه‌هاي آموزش ادبيات خارجي در ايران بدان بپردازيم.

This article is divided into three parts. The first part reviews the role of humanities in the sustainable development of the society and the role of literature as the preserver of cultural identity. The second part deals with the historical background of English literature and its role in the colonies of British Empire. After the political independence of ex-colonies, cultural imperialism resumed its role in eliminating the native culture and replacing it with the European culture. The third part is a critical study of the English literature curriculum in Iran. It will be demonstrated that this curriculum has not been successful in achieving its primary goals in practice. At the end, the researcher makes some strategic recommendations including the establishment of interdisciplinary departments such as Comparative Literature which can assist us in introducing our own literature and culture to others and have a better and critical understanding of the other as well.
