امروزه دسترسي به اينترنت رو به افزايش است. در سال‌هاي اخير, به دليل رواج وسايل ارتباطي, دسترسي به اينترنت. بسيار آسان شده است. كاربران اينترنت در هر زمان و هر مكان مي‌توانند به راحتي به اينترنت وصل شده و از مزاياي بي‌شمار آن استفاده كنند. يك گروه عظيم از اين كاربران قشر دانش‌آموزان هستند. هدف اصلي اين تحقيق بررسي نقش فناوري اطلاعات به خصوص كامپيوتر و اينترنت بر پيشرفت يا افت تحصيلي دانش‌آموزان است. در اين مقاله برآنيم تا ضمن تعريف و تاريخچه اينترنت با محور قرار دادن استفاده از تكنولوژي‌هاي نوين با روش توصيفي و تحليلي و با استفاده از اطلاعات كتابخانه‌اي به نقش محوري وسايل آموزشي نوين در امر آموزش بپردازيم؛ و به مهمترين و برجسته ترين معايب و محاسن استفاده از اينترنت را در بين دانش‌آموزان مطرح كرده و نقش والدين را در خصوص اين مساله بررسي كنيم. سپس نتيجه گيري به عمل آمده و در پايان پيشنهاداتي ارائه مي‌گردد.
