نحوه و دامنه روابط شهر و روستا به صورت‌هاي گوناگون بر رشد و توسعه سكونتگاه‌هاي روستايي اثر مي‌گذارد، يكي از اثرات روابط شهر و روستا بر مهاجرت‌هاي روستايي- شهري هست. موضوع مهاجرت‌هاي روستايي- شهري همواره موردتوجه انديشمندان علوم مختلف بوده است. مهاجرت در كشورهاي درحال‌توسعه در اغلب موارد باعث توسعه‌نيافتگي مبدأ از يك‌سو و ايجاد مشكلات اقتصادي، اجتماعي و فرهنگي در مقصد مهاجرت مي‌شود. هدف تحقيق حاضر بررسي نقش روابط روستايي- شهري بر مهاجرت خانوارهاي روستايي است. تحقيق حاضر از نوع كاربردي و ازنظر ماهيت و روش توصيفي- تحليلي است. جامعه آماري تحقيق خانوارهاي روستايي دهستان پشته زيلايي شهرستان دهدشت بوده است. اين دهستان با توجه به سرشماري سال 1390، داراي 7 روستايي داراي سكنه و 3450 نفر جمعيت مشتمل بر 690 خانوار است. تعداد نمونه لازم جهت تكميل پرسش‌نامه با استفاده از فرمول كوكران 220 خانوار به‌دست‌آمده است. روش گردآوري اطلاعات به‌صورت كتابخانه‌اي و ميداني (پرسشنامه) بوده است. براي تجزيه‌وتحليل اطلاعات از آمار توصيفي (ميانگين و انحراف معيار) و آمار استنباطي (آزمون همبستگي پيرسون، تحليل مسير، كروسكال واليس و رگرسيون خطي) استفاده‌ شده است. نتايج آزمون كروسكال واليس نشان مي‌دهد، روستاهاي ده بيت‌الله، دلي سوار و آب لك در منطقه موردنظر بالاترين ميزان مهاجرت را در بين روستاهاي موردمطالعه داشتند، همچنين بر اساس ضريب همبستگي پيرسون رابطه معناداري بين روابط متقابل شهر و روستا و مهاجرت‌هاي روستا- شهري با ضريب (386/0) وجود دارد، همچنين بر اساس مدل تحليل مسير بعد اقتصادي روابط شهر و روستا با مقدار (450/0) بيشترين تأثير را در مهاجرت‌هاي روستا- شهري داشته است.
