يكي از خصايص اصلي ادبيات سياسي- اقتصادي ايران در سال­هاي پس از كودتاي 1299ش غلبه­ ي گفتمان استبداد مٌنّور (نوسازي اقتدارگرا) در ميان روشنفكران تجددخواه نسل سوم است. سرخوردگي از انقلاب مشروطه در ميان برخي از كنشگران سياسي، بحران­هاي متعدد سياسي- اجتماعي به جا مانده از جنگ جهاني اول در ايران و نيز رواج انديشه­ ي ديكتاتور مصلح در برخي از كشورهاي توسعه نيافته از جمله تركيه را مي­توان عوامل اصلي تغيير گفتمان سياسي از مشروطه به استبداد مٌنّور دانست. در همين راستا ضرورت نوسازي و تشكيل دولت مقتدر در ميان غالب نشريات آن دوره بازتاب گسترده­اي داشته است. "مرد آزاد" كه به وسيله علي ­اكبر داور در سال 1301ش انتشار يافت از نشريات طرفدار حكومت مقتدر بود كه به نقش قدرت دولت مركزي در نوسازي ساختار اقتصادي، اداري و فرهنگي باور عميق داشت و اصلاحات را تنها از طريق اجبار ممكن مي­دانست. در اين مقاله تلاش شده است با استفاده از روش توصيفي-تحليلي و بازخواني برخي از مقالات روزنامه "مرد آزاد" به معرفي و بررسي انديشه­ هاي اين نشريه در خصوص ضرورت نوسازي اقتدارگرا در ايران پرداخته شود.
