Relations between religion and state in Christianity

از مهم ترين موضوعات در اديان و جوامع ديني، مناسبات دين و دولت و نحوه مواجهه و تعامل اين دو با يكديگر است. اين مناسبات در طول تاريخ مسيحيت داراي فراز و فرود است. بر اساس مباني نظري و عملي مسيحيت، كه برگرفته از كتاب مقدس و نظر و عمل شخص عيسي (ع) و رسولان است، مسيحيت برنامه كلان اجتماعي و سياسي ندارد، دين از سياست جداست، مسيحيان ملزم به اطاعت از حكومت ها هستند و مسيحيت اوليه داراي سكوت گرايي سياسي و انزواگزيني اجتماعي است؛ اما پس از رسمي شدن مسيحيت در قرن چهارم، اين قاعده به هم ريخت و مسيحيان، به رغم مباني خود، به صورت جدي وارد اجتماع و سياست شدند و تا آنجا پيش رفتند كه بر سر حق حاكميت با پادشاهان به نزاع و جنگ پرداختند و آيين «دو شمشير» را به وجود آوردند. اين نوشتار به شيوه مطالعه منابع و تاريخ مسيحيت و با هدف آگاهي بخشي درباره مناسبات ميان مسيحيت و سياست، از آغاز تا پايان قرون ميانه، مناسبات دين و دولت در اين آيين را به تصوير كشيده است.

One of the most important issues in religions and religious communities is relation between religion and state. This relationship in Christianity, throughout its history had ups and downs. Based on the theoretical and practical principles of Christianity, which is derived from the Bible and the views and actions of Jesus Christ and the apostles, Christianity does not have a social and political program. In Christianity, religion is distinct from politics and people are obliged to obey the government. In its initial approach, Christianity had political silence and social isolation. But after the official formation in the fourth century, this rule changed and Christians, despite their foundations, entered society and politics seriously, and went so far as they quarreled and fought with kings on sovereignty and created "Doctrine of the two swords". In any way, by studying the sources and history of Christianity and in order to raise awareness about the relation between Church and state from the beginning to the end of the Middle Ages, the article illustrated this relationship.
