Iran-UK Relations: Challenges of the Past and Present

بررسي اُفت‌وخيز روابط ايران و انگليس در طول تاريخ مي‌تواند نكات مثبت و منفي و قوت و ضعف روابط فيمابين را مشخص نموده و چارچوب تحليلي پويا و مناسبي جهت درك بهتر از روابط و بهره‌گيري از ديپلماسي كارآمد و مؤثر ارائه نمايد. در اين راستا، تلاش مي‌شود به اختصار روابط ايران با انگلستان در دوره‌هاي مختلف تاريخي با نگاهي تحليلي مورد تدقيق و واكاوي قرار گرفته و در انتها راهكارهايي براساس آموزه‌هاي تاريخي به منظور به كارگيري ديپلماسي مؤثر در روابط دوجانبه با انگليس ارائه شود. در اين مقاله سعي خواهد شد از هرگونه پيش‌داوري خودداري شده و تنها ملاك ارزيابي، مستندات تاريخي و رفتار كشورها باشد. از هم گسستن روابط دو كشور و لزوم اتخاذ تدابير مؤثر در راستاي تأمين حداكثري منافع ملي از دلايل عمده نگارش مطلب حاضر مي‌باشد.

Reviewing the ups and downs in Iran-UK relations could help to assess and determine the positive and negative elements as well as weaknesses and points of strength in their relations. It could also be useful to give a dynamic analytical framework for better understanding of these twisted relations. In this framework, the present article aims to study Iran-UK relations in different historical periods with an analytical view and, accordingly, to offer some suggestions, based on historical experience, for employing an efficient diplomacy in bilateral relations with the UK. Refraining from prejudice, the basis of judgment in this article is historical documents and behavior of states. The rupture in the Iran-UK relations and the necessity for adopting efficient measures to meet the maximum of Iran’s national interests are the main concerns of the present article.
